Mr James (Jim) Willis

Jim is a newly qualified Physician Associate working in Stroke/Neurosciences at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. He is one of only 5 Physician Associates currently employed in Bristol, and so recognises the difficulties and challenges faced by PAs new to a trust and region.

After studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of the West of England, he went on to work as a Histopathology lab scientist, before studying for his Masters degree in Physician Associate Studies at the University of the West of England. He successfully passed his FPA national exams in 2018, then going onto graduate from UWE with a distinction at Masters level.

After successfully passing his FPA national examination he has spent time volunteering as a tuition assistant at the University of the West of England, working with first-year Physician Associate students, whilst also more recently being involved with stroke-specific teaching for Physician Associate students at North Bristol Trust.

Jim hopes to explore his recently-discovered passion for teaching with his new role in the Medical Excellence Team, whilst also developing his clinical and communication skills. He embraces new and developing forms of communication and media, and is a vociferous positive advocate for Physician Associates in the online domain, where he actively participates in online debates about the PA profession.

Miss Kellie Embleton

My name is Kellie and I am currently in my second year of Physician Associate Studies at Brunel University, London after graduating from Plymouth University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. Although I am a student myself, I have a keen passion for teaching others!

I am currently working as a regional promoter with the MedEx team with the aim to get as many of you involved in their courses as possible. In my first year of studying physician associate studies, the team really helped me out with my exam revision, allowing me to pass with flying colours through my OSCEs and SBAs. I enjoyed their way of teaching so much, that I wanted to be part of MedEx. Please feel free to contact me anytime!
